It’s three in the morning. I’m eating a gingersnap cookie the size of my head while watching Top Chef on TiVo.

The truth is that I’m bored.  Bored like I haven’t been since I was a 14 y.o. old antisocial couch potato dreading the first day of high school and watching re-runs of Facts of Life in the family room all day, every day, all summer.

Yeah, I’ve come a long way since that day.  Or, at least, cable television has gotten better.

I’m now 34, highly educated and the reasonably competent parent of a 3 y.o. boy.  I have a fabulous husband who accidentally ended up in an absurdly demanding, well-compensated profession in a huge metropolitan area.  When our son was a toddler, this funny accident all of a sudden sent me back to 1958.  I’m a full-time housewife and mother, and now that I’m pregnant with #2, that’s not about to change anytime soon.

There’s no shortage of parenting blogs out there, but hey, we also have an infinite number of chain restaurants, toothpaste formulations and paint colors available at Home Depot.  So here’s one more into the universe:  Cravings and Ravings.

At least I’ll be doing something in the dark of night that does not include eating.  Of course I can type with one hand …
